As summer winds down, Christine and Kate are taking a moment to reflect on the new finds and places that touched them most over the past few months. From hidden boutique stays to carefully crafted experiences, this season’s travels reminded them why they’re so passionate about what they do.

Whether discovering new destinations or seeing familiar favorites with fresh eyes, they found inspiration in the little details—those special touches that turn a trip from simply memorable into truly unforgettable. This month, we are sharing some Bella Vita personal favorite discoveries and new finds of the summer. This week, Christine and Kate take the spotlight with their stories.

Kate, our sales and luxury travel specialist: new finds in Turkey

This past March, I returned to Turkey, and each visit reminds me why it’s such a remarkable country. At Bella Vita Travels, we had been researching the country for years, and in 2025 we were thrilled to finally add it to our portfolio.

Turkey offers everything we look for in a destination. Stunning landscapes, rich history, welcoming people, excellent hotels, and food that never disappoints. My nine-day trip began in Cappadocia. The region (Cappadocia is part of Anatokia) is famous for its surreal rock formations, Göreme Valley, and hot-air balloon rides. Staying at Argos in Cappadocia, a cave hotel carved into stone, was an unforgettable experience in itself. But the real highlight came at sunrise, floating in a balloon above fairy chimneys and valleys painted in soft morning light, a truly unforgettable experience.

Next, I flew to Izmir and drove north with a guide and private driver. Here, I spent my timw exploring some of Turkey’s most remarkable historical sites along the way. I wandered the ancient streets of Ephesus, stood on the legendary site of Troy. I explored Pergamon, and visited the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymakli. Along the route, I had a special stay at a boutique hotel tucked in the hillsides south of Istanbul. I’m keeping it unnamed because it’s such a unique and intimate place! I can say our clients love it too- it’s the kind of hotel that makes a journey even more memorable!

I ended my trip in Istanbul, a city that literally bridges Europe and Asia. It’s a place where you could spend days wandering, from bustling markets and historic mosques to world-class museums. Among the city’s many luxury hotels, The Peninsula is my top pick for its comfort, service, and unbeatable location.

New finds and old favorites

On previous visits, I’ve also enjoyed Turkey’s coast, especially the coastline of Bodrum. My favorite there is the fabulous Maçakizi Hotel. It is both chic and relaxed. By early May the sea is already warm enough for swimming, well ahead of much of the Mediterranean. In every destination, my private guides have always helped bring each destination to life with fascinating stories and context.

Turkey truly has something for every season. The energy of Istanbul, the dreamlike landscapes of Cappadocia, world-class archaeological sites, and sun-soaked coastal escapes. Each trip leaves me more inspired- and excited to help others discover it too!

Visiting Iceland for the first time this summer, I was eager to uncover the unexpected—especially while traveling with my parents (in their 70’s) and my 6-year-old daughter. With a mobility issue in our group, we shaped our itinerary around comfortable, accessible day trips from Reykjavik. What I discovered was a treasure trove of stunning landscapes, rich culture, and culinary delights—all perfectly suited for a multigenerational adventure.

Two standout hotels made a real impression: the Edition Reykjavik, with its sleek modern design and central location that blends urban sophistication with comfort, and the Sand Hotel, offering a cozy, boutique feel that makes you feel right at home in the heart of the city. Both provided the perfect bases for relaxing after busy days of exploration.

New Finds in Food

Our small group food tour was a great and easy walking experience for everyone in our group. We winded through Reykjavik’s charming streets and had delicious tastings at some of the city’s best spots (including the iconic hot dog). The restaurant finds were all mine—something I’m passionate about, often booking dining spots before even finalizing the trip. Highlights included Skál and Hósilo, where fresh, innovative takes on traditional Icelandic flavors stole the show. A memorable moment was when little Lilia bravely tried fermented shark, with the applause of 20 adults around her—one of Iceland’s most infamous dishes—showing that adventurous eating really runs in the family.

We all also enjoyed a spectacular lava show, a thrilling glimpse into Iceland’s volcanic power that captivated everyone. Whale watching (we saw 8!) and puffin tours were gentle, close encounters with the country’s iconic wildlife, perfect for all ages. A special day was spent exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Black sand beaches, wild seals, a horse farm and the famous black church. Stunning coastal views were paired with a warm farm lunch highlighting local, seasonal ingredients—another unexpected delight.

Our private Golden Circle journey included a new favorite stop: the Secret Lagoon. We loved soaking in the natural hot springs. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. These new finds—from hidden eateries and immersive tours to accessible adventures— showed me that Iceland’s beauty and culture can be enjoyed by travelers of all ages and abilities. This trip gifted us not only unforgettable memories but a fresh perspective on what a family holiday can be.
