Nice France for the Adventurers

Nice, France is a premiere destination on the French Riviera, prized for sunbathing on the sapphire waters of the Cote d’Azur, shopping at exclusive boutiques, and indulging in luxurious French food. And alongside all the beauty of the Mediterranean, the historic sights and architecture, and rich local culture, Nice is also a fantastic place to have unforgettable adventures.

If your perfect holiday includes a chance to take on nature, challenge yourself, have new experiences, or feel a thrill, Nice has it all and more. Here are some ways that you can boost your adrenaline while visiting Nice:

White water rafting and river sports. The Maritime Alps just outside Nice offer spectacular opportunities for white water rafting, canoeing, tubing, and kayaking. Tours, classes, rentals, and excursions are all available for visitors who want to leave the tranquil crystal beaches and experience the rougher side of water.

Parasailing. Nothing compares to the views of Nice from 50 meters in the sky, parasailing over the Baie des Anges. You can parasail alone, as a couple, or as a group of three, and let the warm Mediterranean air carry you over the water. It’s an incredible way to see the region from a unique perspective, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With a number of popular parasailing options right off of the Promenade des Anglais, it is an activity that requires no experience and no advanced booking.

Rock climbing. Only 20 minutes from Nice is the medieval village of La Turbie, with nearly 600 climbing routes for rock climbers of all abilities. The cliffs over Monte-Carlo, with the Mediterranean waters stretching out on all sides, is an exceptional climbing experience. La Turbie is also a popular starting point for hikes, and even offers paragliding and hang gliding from nearby Mount Gros. If you want to experience the cosmopolitan cities of the French Riviera, the rustic charm of a medieval village, and the thrill of soaring from a mountain all in the same day, it’s impossible to do better than here.

Canyoning. Canyoning combines hiking, climbing, rappelling, and swimming, and Nice is one of the premiere canyoning destinations in the world. The stunning scenery, pure water, and natural variety in the canyons make it a fantastic activity for adventurous newcomers and experienced canyoners alike. Canyoning is available most of the year, from January through October, but is potentially dangerous, even for experienced canyoners, and should be done with a qualified guide who knows the terrain. When booked ahead, you can get local transport, a guide, all the equipment, and a canyon adventure tailored to your interests and ability level.

Snow sports. While many people think of Nice as a summer destination, in the winter it is a fantastic place for snow sports, with Alpine peaks soaring 3000 miles above the sea. A favorite winter destination for Europeans, Nice offers ski resorts, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and skating. The gorgeous runs and variety of activities tempt winter visitors into the mountains above the city for a whole new experience of the French Riviera. In fact, there are many outstanding ski destinations throughout the Mediterranean, here are our favorites.

Nice offers sunbathing on the beach, boutique shopping on the strip, luxurious meals on a terrace, and is a fantastic place to relax and leave the world behind. But for those who want their relaxation tempered with a little excitement, and who want to feel a little adrenaline rush on their vacation, Nice also has a range of activities and sports that will get your blood pumping and provide a little challenge. It truly is the best of both worlds, full of unforgettable moments and spectacular experiences.
