Porto, Portugal: your perfect short trip

· · · · · ·

Porto is one of Portugal’s most enchanting cities. A great choice for a short vacation or a long weekend, it is also a can’t miss addition to a longer itinerary. It’s small enough that you’ll be able to navigate with ease and feel like a local. However, it is also large enough that you’ll never run out of things to see.

This month, we are sharing itinerary ideas for a short trip to smaller cities that are perfect for a brief getaway. Portugal has so many special destinations, but Porto is truly one of our favorites!

DAY ONE: Welcome to Porto!

Upon arrival, we will arrange for a private transfer to one of our preferred 4 or 5-star hotels in the city center. A landmarked Baroque palace that’s one of the leading hotels of the world?  A tiny hotel with just ten elegant, antique-filled serviced suites in a 17th-century building? Our extensive portfolio in Porto has a choice for almost every style of traveler.

After some time to settle in, your guide will meet you for your Private Porto City Highlights Tour. During your tour you’ll visit the most significant spots of the city. This is a great way to get your bearings. You’ll also get some insider tips on great restaurants and spots that locals love!

DAY TWO: Unforgettable experiences

Today you’ll take a short ride out of Porto for a private Tour of the Duoro Valley. Your driver will pick you up at your hotel and accompany you inland. Then, you’ll arrive at the gorgeous wine region surrounding the Duoro River. Your first stop will be a guided visit to a Quinta (winery) where local Doc Duoro wines are produced. You’ll then have a special experience of lunch at the incredible DOC Restaurant.

Following lunch, you’ll then visit a boutique producer of Port wines where you will enjoy a tour and tasting. You’ll finish your Duoro Valley experience with a one hour cruise down the river on a typical boat. Here you can admire the vineyards and countryside from below. Your driver will then accompany back to your hotel in the early evening.

DAY THREE: A taste of Porto

This morning, you will stroll the scenic streets in order to discover more about the culinary sphere. Your private food tour is a great way to taste your way through the city! This tour offers a fantastic opportunity to experience the sights, smells, and tastes of gastronomic Porto. Tastings include delicious bacalhau and the celebrated francesinha sandwich!

This evening, you have a special treat. In our Porto Boat Tour, explore this crucial body of water and its bridges. After, you’ll disembark to discover the other, often-overlooked city across from Porto called Vila Nova de Gaia. Pop into a venue for a short Port wine tasting before investigating some of the back streets of the city. You will end up at a fantastic viewpoint overlooking the city to end this wonderful day.

DAY FOUR: Adeus, Portugal

It is time to bid farewell to beautiful Porto. We will arrange a private transfer to the airport for your flight home or to the train station or car rental company for your continued exploration of Portugal…!

Always tailor made

We hope that these tours and excursions gave you some ideas for a trip to Porto. Be it a few days here or as part of a longer itinerary, its a stop you cannot miss. These tours are just a handful of what we can organize for you. All of our trips are completely tailored to your travel dreams and wishes!
