Our favorite tours for children: Part 2

Traveling with children can sometimes be challenging, lets face it! However, special tours designed for families take the stress out of planning and ensure that everyone has a fantastic time. All of us at Bella Vita Travels have kids, and have traveled extensively with them. From a few months old to teenagers, we have done it all. Hence, this month we are sharing some of our personal favorite – and client favorite – tours for kids.

These tours are carefully crafted to provide age-appropriate activities and itineraries that cater to the needs and interests of both children and adults. From educational tours to adventure-filled excursions, there is a wide range of options available to suit every family’s preferences.

Harry Potter for the Children and Families – London, England

Meet your private guide (and Harry Potter connoisseur) at King’s Cross and follow them as they take your family to some of the most iconic areas of London related to Harry Potter.

You will start your magical journey by searching for Platform 9 3⁄4 and, once you have found it, taking your family picture taken without having to wait in line. After a quick visit to the Harry Potter store, hop in a private Mercedes V-class minivan and enjoy the sightseeing ride to Leadenhall Market.

On the way, your guide will point out a lot of different areas that are either shown or mentioned in the Harry Potter saga, such as the Saint Pancras Renaissance Hotel (where the Weasley’s magical Ford Anglia takes off in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), the British Library, the London Zoo (Harry makes a window disappear in the Reptile House), Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square etc.

The guided tour ends in Leadenhall market, also known as Diagon Alley in the movie. From there, you will be driven back to your hotel.

Holland Cycling Tour: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Meet your private, expert guide in the south of Amsterdam and let them take you on a 3-hour cycling tour down the tranquil banks of the Amstel River, away from the rush and bustle of the city center.

Begin with a few safety regulations (helmets are necessary for children) and then adapt your bike. Then, make your way to the banks using exclusively dedicated bicycle lanes. There’s no need to worry about traffic here!

While riding your bicycles, you may take in the wonderful views of the Amstel River and the characteristic countryside scenery. There are other fascinating sights along the road, including a tiny petting zoo, a Rembrandt monument, and a classic windmill. You’ll even be able to cross the Amstel River on a small boat and enjoy a picnic lunch on the opposite side.

And, to keep the children involved and delighted throughout the cycling tour, everyone will get a fun-filled game booklet.

Azulejo Ceramic Class: Lisbon, Portugal

Azulejo is a form of Spanish and Portuguese painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. You will see them everywhere, and their vivid colors and patterns will immediately remind you of the warmth and joy of Portugal.

Meet your private, experienced art teacher in her art workshop located in the heart of Lisbon’s old center. After a very brief introduction on the history and technique of Azulejo in Portugal, each member of your family – including children – will be creating and decorating 1 ceramic sardine.

Follow the instruction of your art teacher and you will end up with a beautiful pair of traditional Portuguese azulejos once this 2-hour workshop is over.

And the best part is that you will be able to walk out of the workshop with your own creations, as the drying time is quite short!

This hands-on workshop is a great way to learn more about this traditional form of art.

Mozart for children: Vienna, Austria

Vienna was home to legendary classical music composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, Schubert, and Mahler.

Allow us to take you and your family to some of Vienna’s most famous locations, where these people have lived, performed, or worked.

Meet your expert, family-friendly guide at the foot of Saint Steven’s Cathedral, where Mozart married and christened his six children, and follow them as they lead you through the city’s narrow streets in search of the homes of these legendary composers. Learn about how they lived and interacted with one another, and the endless interesting facts will keep your youngsters entertained.

This trip concludes in the Music Museum (Haus der Muzik), where you and your children may not only listen to their music, but also perhaps lead your own digital orchestra (depending on availability).

Our Footsteps of Mozart and Friends trip is an excellent opportunity to discover more about these well-known classical composers and 18th-century music.
