2022 discoveries: Morocco
Morocco is just one of the many destinations we loved to visit in 2022. This vibrant country has been an incredible addition to the Bella Vita Travels portfolio. Morocco is one of the incredible jewels of North Africa. It is a land of full of history, culture, amazing scenery, architecture and wonderful food. A vacation that is truly an “experience”, Morocco has been a favorite with clients for years now.

Over the past several weeks, we have been sharing some of our top choices from our travels over the past year. We travel quite a bit, and visit new places often. However, we also re-visit some “old friends” in places we love. Morocco in particular has so many unique and special tours to offer clients. Riad Les Yeux Bleus, Marrakech
This charming and authentic riad (Moroccan b&b) has an unbeatable location in the center of this special city. Regarding amenities and the property itself, they have some special touches that let this riad stand out. It has a bar, and also a rooftop pool. There is also a pool in the central courtyard in traditional style.
Also, the decor is stunning, as well as the color scheme. The rooms are designed in typical riad fashion. Each is different, cozy, and comfortable. This is one of our favorite affordable options in Marrakech!
Fairmont Taghazout Bay
This is a newly opened property in Morocco that we love! This place was the perfect end to a tailor made holiday for a few days of relaxation by the beach. The property and the grounds are exquisite but what truly makes the stay are the wonderful staff. Kind, always happy to help, and they make a stay here a special experience. This is a great choice for a few days in beautiful Taghazout Bay after an adventurous trip through Morocco!
Olinto Atlas Mountain Retreat, Ouirgane, Morocco
This truly stunning sanctuary in the mountains is one of the most special places to stay in all of Morocco. Olinto is a luxury Atlas Mountain retreat situated in the Berber heartland of Morocco, a mere 55-minute drive from Marrakech airport. Each of the nine pavilion rooms has been designed with a touch of luxury and privacy in mind. This is an experience more than just a stay – we cannot wait to come back!

Ruined Garden, Fez
This is an old favorite we love visiting again and again. Reservations are essential in this quiet garden located in the heart of the Fez medina. The dishes are classic Moroccan with a twist. The lamb tangine with apricots and carmelized onions is really special as are their salad trio (including smoked eggplant dip that is out of this world).

Hot air balloon over Marrakech
Hot air ballooning is a must-do when visiting Morocco. Only a few cities like Marrakesh and Fez offer such flights. It is is an unforgettable and breathtaking experience, and was one of our personal favorites this past year.
The hot air balloon flight starts at dawn, so you can enjoy the experience of watching the sunrise.
The flight begins slowly but as it flies higher and higher you can slightly see the sun start to rise in the
horizon. By this time, the hot air balloon is at a high altitude and the clouds start disappearing to leave
room for the sun. The sun is fully up by now and you can start watching the Atlas Mountains appear in the background afar, the silent flight slowly hovers over the many picturesque landscapes of Marrakesh.
After about 1 hour, the hot air balloon starts to descent by then, you can watch the balloon deflate and
fully take in this spectacular experience.
Dinner in the Agafay desert of Morocco
This was another experience that took our breath away on a trip to Marrakech. First, you will reach the rocky desert of Agafay by 4*4. After arriving, explore the surroundings and admire a guided
tour of around 40min of the scenic arid vistas on a camelback. This helps reminiscence of how caravans crossed the desert on the trade route. Afterward, enjoy a dinner in a Bedouin tent.
All around, the Agafay unfolds its immensity. On its arid and rocky lands, thirty kilometers southwest of Marrakech, a base camp for travelers in search of wide-open spaces, freshness and silence has been established. After the camel ride & dinner you will be transferred back to Marrakech.
